Community Guidelines & Course Shared Agreements

Thank you for taking the time to read the following guidelines, which allow us to build a community of shared intention, warmth, and courageous learning.

These shared agreements were drafted and written by Lindsay Mack with additional input from Iris Rankin and Valerie Cochran, and invaluable education, input, and support from two of the inclusivity moderators for Tarot for the Wild Soul, Alex Rodriguez, and Malissa Pansa-ad, in particular the section of Supportive & Inclusive Space.

Land Acknowledgement

Honoring and acknowledging that our courses were created on both the unceded land of the Lenape people (currently called Brooklyn, NY), and The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, with the deepest respect to the Kalapuya Tribe, Cowlitz Tribe, and Atfalati Tribe (currently called Portland, OR), respectively.

Lineage of the Tarot

We honor the crucial and important legacy of Roma and Romani Tarot readers in the evolution of the practice of cartomancy, and acknowledge the persecution that they have faced for and around their practices with the Tarot. We affirm that, in Soul Tarot®, and with all of our courses and classes, we are looking to the Tarot as a non-predictive healing tool, one that is rooted and centered in the present. We do not condone, nor do we perpetuate the continued appropriation of the closed practices of Romani Tarot readers.

Course as Personal Pilgrimages

All of our courses and offerings are self paced personal pilgrimages. A pilgrimage is defined as “a journey…made to some sacred place as an act of devotion.” In this case, you are making a journey into yourself as you explore, deepen and enrich your relationship with your Tarot deck and yourself. These personal pilgrimage courses are dedicated to serving as a supportive space for sitting in your own knowing, asking questions of yourself. I am honored to be your guide on this journey – but the path you take through this material (and how you move along it) is all your own.

Expectations for Our Students

If you desire to take part in one of our course offerings, these are the boundaries and structures that we ask each student to adhere to:

Personal Responsibility with Self Tending and Care. This work is powerful and can bring up big feelings. We are not therapists and are not able to provide therapeutically based support to any student. We highly encourage you to seek out a processor or supportive space as you move through the material, should you find that it is bringing up big feelings. The course spaces are not therapeutic process spaces, and should not be used as such.

Autonomy and Critical Thinking. In these courses, and with my work, there is a big emphasis on critical thinking and personal responsibility. You are your own Hierophant, and you are expected to utilize your critical thinking and common sense as you move through these courses, podcast episodes, or journal posts. Take what works for you and leave what doesn’t. Check what I say against your truth and go with what you sense is the right path on the journey for you – just like you would with any space holder, guide, or teacher.

Integrity. You may not claim that the materials provided in this course are yours without credit to where you learned and received them. Do not lift the material and teach it as your own. Do not change two words, and/or tweak the languaging, and attempt to pass it off as your own. Please do not share this material with anyone who has not invested in it. Thank you so much for helping to keep the ethics and integrity high. It is appreciated beyond expression.

Respond, rather than React. We at Team Wild Soul strive to provide the most heart centered, honest, humble experience for our students. We expect and ask the same from you. Sometimes material can trigger us and can feel big, and within our discomfort, we can have an impulse to react. We honor your responses to this material, and we also know that in therapeutic spaces, there is an encouragement to reflect whatever is arising within us at the processor. That's not what we're doing here. This is an educational course. This is a training ground for you to learn how to navigate discomfort and resource yourself accordingly. If you have words to share, we ask that you hold them for 24-48 hours, pausing and asking, “Is this mine? Is this something I'm activated by, but does not actually cause harm?  This is not an attempt to tone police anyone or bypass your experience. Righteous anger is sacred and important, and we are always available to examine where we can recenter and acknowledge where we have caused harm. However, there is a difference between you not liking something and it calling you into personal contraction versus actual harm. Determining which is happening at any given moment is a part of cultivating personal responsibility, and we encourage you to hang out with the discomfort it may bring up while you sense into what may be arising for you.

Expectations around Connecting with Team Wild Soul

Team Wild Soul will be here to assist and support any student with technical or administrative needs during team hours (Monday -- Friday, 9am-5pm PT). We will endeavor to respond to your email within 24 hours or less during weekdays! If you have questions, please streamline all communication and questions to us at info@tarotforthewildsoul.com

Respect and Confidentiality

Each course is held in a container of respect and confidentiality. Everything you share in the Q&A roundups and in the Live Q&A calls remains confidential between you, Lindsay and the course participants. By participating, you agree to hold course materials and participant communications confidential.

Supportive & Inclusive Space

It is my highest priority and commitment that our courses be as supportive and inclusive a container as possible for all participants, one that centers and honors the experience of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQI2-S folx, and other systemically and/or historically marginalized folks.

This is an anti-racist space, and I am here to hold a space of firm and clear allyship, and one that will be welcoming for anyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, class, and identity. This intention of acknowledgment and inclusion encompasses all of our educational materials, including but not limited to the lessons, workbooks, and bonus materials for our offerings.

If any aspect of the course materials feels uninclusive, or in some way harmful, please email us at info@tarotforthewildsoul.com, and it will be addressed immediately, either by myself or a team member. We will gratefully receive your feedback, acknowledge our mistakes, and make changes for future courses. Your experience will be honored and respected.

Flexibility in the Syllabus

Due to the channeled nature of this work and of my creative process, all syllabus items are subject to change, even while the course is running. We are always committed to providing exceptional course material, and we appreciate your understanding that openness to change is a part of what we're learning together as a whole. This flexibility in the material ensures we're able to offer teachings and service to you in highest and best.

Expectations Around Student-Run Community Connection Spaces

Here at Team Wild Soul, we do not provide or moderate any student group spaces or community connection boards for any of our offerings (ie, private Facebook groups, Mighty Networks, etc.).

If you would like the opportunity to connect with your fellow students as you move through the course, we wholeheartedly encourage you to create your own Slack channel or other means of community connection! We would be all too delighted to share that space with students who are participating in that offering.

Kindly note that these student run spaces are not created by, representative of, or moderated by us at Team Wild Soul, and neither myself or any member of the team is available to intervene, or conflict resolve around any potential issues that may arise in those spaces.

Important Note

These are not therapeutic courses or offerings. Lindsay is not a therapist or medical professional, and these offerings are not a substitute for therapy, professional mental care, and do not claim or intend to fix, treat, diagnose or heal mental illness.

Our courses are supportive guideposts on ways to include the Tarot as one of the many Anchoring tools in our toolbox of self resourcing. They are also here to invite participants to look at the cards in a different way. It is our intention that this material can assist you on the path of your self care, and in the deepening of your Tarot practice.
